This 10 question choral midterm is the most effective way to measure the success of our students. This midterm will require no studying or preparation on the part of our students. It will, however, require some reflective thinking. Oh and one more important thing: This exam is NOT for your singers........it's for you

In taking this 10 Question Midterm, we must evaluate the progress of ALL OF OUR STUDENTS in ALL OF OUR CHOIRS; this includes the students in our select ensemble, beginner ensemble and any ensemble in between. How all students in our program are doing is the true assessment of how impactful we truly are as a teacher.

Note-labeling is not an "all or nothing" skill. Any singer must be successful at note-labeling before being able to sight sing.

First a student must accurately be able to label the pitches with solfege. Next they need to gain speed. The speed at which they can identify the pitches will determine how quickly they can access their ear. If they have not developed their ear first, they will not be able to produce the notes correctly.   This Rubric has 5 tangible Levels.  *You will receive a 3-page PDF Rubric for immediate download along with a few dozen examples to label, courtesy of Sight Reading Factory!   This rubric is a positive tool to encourage singers with 5 Levels for success! This rubric can be used independently or in conjunction with the Sight-Singing Developmental Rubric; within that rubric, where this is a specific prerequisite skill.
